In addition to your password, you’ll need to enter your Apple ID, which is usually an email address that you associate with the account.

This may be less likely to happen, but if you don’t log in to Apple services and products often, you may forget which email address is associated with your Apple ID.

Fortunately, there’s a quick way to find the address you need. Simply find a device that is already connected to your Apple ID (link to your Apple ID password).

You must answer in the same way as when you first installed the application. It’s not only about your answers, but also how you wrote them.

Our Tips: Be careful with the spelling and shortcuts!

If you want to change your questions and/or answers you have to log in to Apple ID with your Apple ID AND password.

Sending a password reset mail

If you don’t remember the answers to your security questions, you can choose to have a password reset email sent to you.

You will then be able to send the link to change your Apple ID password to the second email registered in your account.

To make sure you know this email, you will be able to see part of the address. So, make sure you have access to the address.

  1. On the “Reset Password” screen at iforgot.apple.com/password/verify/appleid, choose “Get an email” and tap Continue.

2.       The email will arrive at the second email address associated with your account with the heading “How to reset your Apple ID password”.

3.       Once the email is received, then click the “Reset Now” link in the email.

 Two-factor authentication

Two-factor authentication is an additional level of security that Apple has implemented in 2016. The goal is to ensure that you are the only person who has access to your account, even if someone knows your password.

In short, if you have 2FA enabled, you will not only need to enter your password, but also a code that Apple sends to your iPhone or Mac.

Apple Id verification code

To reset your Apple ID password with this method, you must have access to one of your trusted devices.

If you have set up two-factor authentication and want to change your password, you should always go to appleid.apple.com and click “Forgot Apple ID or password?”

Once on the Apple ID page (lien), you’ll need to enter your email address, as well as your phone number associated with the two-factor authentication.

Once you enter the correct number, you will have the option to reset your password from a trusted phone number or another device.

If you choose to reset it from a trusted phone number:

  • You have access to a device running iOS 10 or higher, or macOS Sierra or higher: You can use it to reset the password. You can then cancel and choose the “Reset from another device”.
  • Otherwise, choose “Start Account Recovery”.

If you choose to reset from another device:

You will receive an alert with a password reset option.

Our Tips: This option may take longer than the others (sometimes even several days). Therefore, we recommend that you use this technique only as a last resort. Apple will then send you the verification code so that you can retrieve your account.
